USM Board of Regents Meets February 11
Adelphi, Md. (Feb. 8,
2011) -- The University
System of Maryland (USM) Board of Regents at its next meeting will vote on
whether to approve individual implementation plans developed by USM
institutions in response to the new USM Strategic Plan.
The public meeting is scheduled to begin at 8:30
a.m. Friday, Feb. 11, in the Rockville and Potomac rooms (Building II) at the
Universities at Shady Grove (USG), 9630 Gudelsky Drive, Rockville, MD.
On
Dec. 3, 2010, the board approved the USM Strategic Plan 2010-2020. Since that
date, each institution has completed an implementation plan to align its
priorities with the system-wide Strategic Plan.
The board also will vote on proposed academic
programs at several institutions and missions and goals statements drafted by all
USM institutions and regional centers. The statements will be submitted to the
Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) for its review. Later in 2011, the
full Board of Regents will consider the statements for final adoption. All
statements will require MHEC approval.
Reports will be presented from the councils of
university system presidents, faculty, staff and students. After the public meeting, the board will meet in executive
